I miss the grocery stores from any other place I've lived, but especially Safeway.

We're PHX shoppers as well ( outlets at Anthem, Dillards outlet, Scottsdale Fashion Square for H&M and Lush, etc. )

Federico's and Filiberto's are here, I believe they both got their start in AZ.

Having lived in E Tejas & NW La for over 2 decades, I really appreciate the fact that ABQ is not DFW.

Wow, people travel hundreds of miles just to shop? I better shut up about there being some kind of economic crisis in this country ;-)

Glad you are enjoying Albuquerque, mordantmonkey!

Will it make you feel better if I tell you I go to Phoenix and shop all the sales and hit the many thrift stores there? (which I really do)

We do as well, but some of the thrift stores aren't even making it in their economy.

We'll have to compare thrift store notes.

No kidding. My 2 favorite Savers closed down in the last year down there. The one on Broadway, though, I think was more politics by the property owner than lack of business.

I felt that way when I first moved there from Colorado cuz Colorado has a variety to choose from and most are in tip top shape....but......having since moved from NM and lived in several cities and states and countries since then...I can say that I miss the NM stores now. Especially the diversity in alternative grocery that was coming into the area plus that which already existed ie La Montanita Food Coop - probably the place to shop if one is truly eco-conscious yet many prices there are quite high...i still liked the idea and practice of it once in a great while...and Trader Joes...I miss TRader Joes...that place is the bomb. Plus there's Wild Oats and Whole Foods (my least fave natural foods store) and even Vitamin Cottage which imo has the best prices of them all. Plus there's Smiths, Albertsons, Walmart, SuperSavor, etc etc for all else...
