I am coming to Albuquerque this summer to look at neighborhood for a possible move. After much internet reasearch Matthew Meadows sticks out as a possibility. I like the space in between the houses. I like the some of the adobe construction. I like that it seems to be somewhat "not city" for lack of a better word. Having said all of that can't find mcuh information about Matthew Meadows Where and what are the parks like? Biking or walking trails, How's the crime? Shopping, what's it like? I've found bits and pieces but not enough to give me a picture of the area. So, can anyone give me the skinny on the area. Just so you know I've been to the "Walkability site" It's good but limited.
A family member used to live in MM. The actual neighborhood was nice -- close to the Rio Grange bosque, large lots, dark roads, quiet... Once you get out on the main road (Rio Grande or 12th St), it's different. Still rural on the Rio Grande side and close to the Rio Grande Nature Center. The 12th St area is more run-down. You could travel a block and find an old boarded up vacant building and mobile homes. Not an especially great area for shopping, with mostly small locally owned very specific stores. Walking trails are excellent. MM is overall a sought-after neighborhood though. I'd love to live there if I could.
