We are currently building a home in Montecito Estates. My husband is stationed at Kirtland and we are currently living on base and HATE it. We are working with a real estate agent and couldn't find our "dream home" so she suggested Montecito and building a home by dR Horton. We researched it and absolutely love th area. It's about 20-30 minutes away from base (22 to be exact) and in a new school district. Amazing schools. A fellow airman actually sold his home in 7 days (Montecito).

It's right next to the petroglyphs with trails as well as a dog park nearby. We are financing with USAA and purchased our home for 225k. It's a 3bed 2bath. Right now is the time to buy...3.62 with usaa (va loan). We love Albuquerque and my husband is happy here. We have been stationed at 3 bases and we knew this is where we plan on staying for a long while. :0) you can message me if you would like.

Moderator cut: Please, no real estate agent recommendations.

Default Kirtland AFB Privatized Housing?

I to would like to 'piggy back' on this thead and ask for HELP regarding the Privatized Housing on KAFB.

I will post what I already did on another thread if I may:

Sure would like to revive this thread. I'm not PCSing as I'm retired MACS/USN and will be moving to ABQ. After some research, comments from the forums we are seriously considering moving into KAFB privatized housing. I contacted base housing and as a retiree and disabled I qualify as for a 3Br/2Ba in areas V,VI & VII. The floor plans look good. Any info about privatized housing would be most welcome.

We, a family of 4, will be moving from the Philippines. I have lived here for the past 24 years and do love it. However, as our two young adult kids graduate from their PharmD College, just over 2 years, we will uproot and move to ABQ.

I have a friend of mine, retired APD Sgt and a MAC/USNR who lives there but has no knowledge of how the housing is there on KAFB or the base except for the Base Exchange & Commissary, which he says are fantastic.

Should anyone also be knowledgeable about how the altitude affects asthma would love to hear their opinions. My research shows that if your asthma is controlled should not be a problem, once you acclimate to it.

You input will be most welcomed

Joe

Very sorry for 'high jacking' two threads and posting the same info. Don't know why but didn't think they would appear here.

Asking everyone's forgiveness as I'm sure not a pro on these forums and it shows.

Just trying to do my best and find out as much info regarding ABQ it's self and Kirtland AFB. Wish I could have deleted one of my replies. Maybe Poncho can help me out here and do it.

I do, as does my family, appreciate all of those that have replied to and even taken the time to PM me on other threads.

Just an Old Goat / Geezer

Thanks!
