I think that is the right area for me as I enjoy being on the outskirts where it's a little more peaceful with more expansive views. I hope it's as I imagine it to be. Are the walking trails safe for a single woman? I lived in Tucson briefly and went hiking in the hills alone and I kept thinking how far I was getting from the parking area. I got spooked and went back after a 1/2 mile! I plan to join as many groups as I can so that I can make friends to hike with and go exploring all over.

San Miguel Del Bosque apartments 9180 Coors Road NW Albuquerque

These look pretty good to me. Seems to be in a fairly safe area, too.

They are safe. There is lots of people walking/biking/skating most of the time. My wife's best friend goes every day since she live right near the Bosque trail. Just her and her dog and has always been ok.

If this is what you are looking for, I'd recommend looking into La Ventana Apartments off Academy & Tramway in the NE Heights.

I currently live in the Cottonwood Ranch Apartments, and used to live at La Ventana. If you want lovely, expansive views, La Ventana would be better. You just walk outside your apartment and can go on nice gentle hikes off Spain & Tramway, to strenuous hikes at Elena Gallegos. Plus, you have gorgeous views of the mountains to the east, and of the entire city and all the way to Mt. Taylor (80-some miles away) to the west. As far as walking, there is an Albertson's across the street. But the area is more residential. Everywhere in ABQ less than or equal to a 25 minute drive.

Cottonwood Ranch feels more like I'm living in the suburbs, yuck. Too many big box stores, traffic on Coors, and houses upon houses upon houses. The apartments themselves are comfortable though.

Thanks for the suggestion. The La Ventana apartments are too pricey for me unfortunately. I'm visiting next week and will check some out and see what works.
