I prefer the H&M stores in Europe, but it's great to have more options here. Zara should be next!

H&M | H&M US

I don't think I have ever been to one... H & M Hennes & Mauritz AB (H&M) is a Swedish multinational retail-clothing company, known for its fast-fashion clothing for men, women, teenagers and children. They are in 53 countries. The first store was in Sweden in 1947. They have over 2,600 stores. In the past they were Albuquerque, pulled out, and I guess comming back.

We've had a few former companies come back (Popeye's Chicken, Godfather Pizza)...

Was not impressed at all with H&M when one opened in Philadelphia. And I think this was back when I had more money to spend on clothes and was dressing reasonably well. I didn't care for the styles they carried, and even if I had been as young as their target audience seemed to be, I doubt I'd be into them. I can't be more specific since this was a while back. Ugly, cheaply made, and overpriced were my general impressions of the clothes, however.

Ooh, I missed the news about Stein Mart's return! A quick search found this article with an announcement:

Stein Mart plotting its return to Albuquerque | Albuquerque Journal News

Hope it's true! Seems as if ABQ store announcements outnumber actual store openings about 10 to 1 ...

I emailed SteinMart after I moved here, asking if they planned on opening a store here (the store here was long closed by the time I moved here). The real estate department replied, said they'd been here but closed, and were "interested in reopening down the road when a suitable location became available and market indicators picked up". It appears the stars have now aligned themselves Construction on the site is well underway.

H&M doesn't really carry what I wear, but friends who used to buy from H&M have all told me that the quality has gone down over the last few years, except for the designer for H&M collections. I guess we'll see.

H&M has never had a store in Albuquerque before. Perhaps you're getting confused by the mention of SteinMart, which was once in Albuquerque in the early part of the last decade and is now set to open a new store again in part of the former Kmart location on Montgomery.

H&M opening here would've been a lot more exciting a few years ago when they were really popular.

I can remember about five years ago my niece seeing commercials for H&M on T.V. and asking me if they had a store here. I didn't know much about the company then and so I looked it up online and saw that it was really trendy then and that it in actually had no location in Albuquerque. She was really disappointed because she really liked the clothes she saw in the spot on T.V.

The other day when I first read about H&M finally coming to Albuquerque I let my niece know and she didn't seem all that excited by the news. But who can blame her, since so much time has passed.

I know in the intervening years TJ Maxx became really popular and there was already a location here in Albuquerque for my niece to go to. That store's popularity seems to be waning however, so perhaps H&M still stands the chance to be the new in-thing for young girls in Albuquerque at least.

Apparently H&M also sells clothes for men and boys, so I will probably check it out at least once when it opens.

I just knew H&M had to be coming to Albuquerque soon since they opened stores in Tucson last year and also will be opening a store in El Paso soon. There was also the hubub not that long ago where H&M was listed as a store on renderings when the Coronado facelift was announced, yet hastily removed after it was noted, which all pointed to the store's arrival in Albuquerque.
