Hi all--- My situation is a little complicated.

Husband is working at Los Alamos and found an airplane pool. I just got a job at Presbyterian Hospital downtown. I will be working there 3 days a week, and 2 days a week out of the Presbyterian Hospital in Rio Rancho.

I have two small kids, so school district is important to me. They are both young though--- one is not even a year yet, and the other has one more year of preschool. We plan on being in Abq for a couple years though so eventually school district will matter.

Where are good neighborhoods for school that won't make either commute for me too difficult?

A small airport outside of Rio Rancho.

In that case, I think you'd most likely want to be on the west side of the river somewhere, or Rio Rancho. Crossing the river is likely to be the biggest bottleneck in your commute. Between you and your husband that would make 7 commutes a week without crossing the river and 3 with crossing the river. Avoid the northeast heights as all your commutes will be long.

The Taylor Ranch area looks like it's fairly central to your commute destinations.

I'm not sure which schools are rated well in those areas, maybe someone else can help on that.

Thanks for the info. How long would you estimate the commute to be between Rust Presbyterian and Presbyterian downtown in rush hour? I'm trying to get a sense of how crazy it will be, particularly with childcare needs.

If you mean from one hospital to the other, maybe 40-45 minutes. From Taylor Ranch to either one, 15-25 minutes as long as there are no accidents on the freeway.

We've been using Rust Presbyterian and Rio Rancho Presbyterian since they opened, and Presbyterian downtown on occasion.

Might consider Ventana Ranch or Taylor Ranch to live, possibly Ladera Heights.

He is probably using Double Eagle airport which is on the West Side, West of Unser Boulevard on Atrisco Vista Blvd

Presbyterian downtown is on the east side of the River and everything else above is on the west side of the River.

It's going to be a bit careful thought. Then considering schools.
