La Terraza Senior Apartments
55+, on the west side. Across from a golf course, I think. I'm not that familiar with the exact area.

Welcome to La Cantera!
55+, on the west side, near Cottonwood Mall. Nice area, walking distance to a lot of stuff. Maybe 3 years old?

El Paseo
55+, techically on the west side but I'd call it more mid-city. Weird spot, right off 2nd & Paseo, but would be convenient to the Rail Runner (Journal station). Website says they have some cool activities, so my guess it's a more hip, active 55+ adult community.

Three Fountains Apts For Rent in Albuquerque, New Mexico - ForRent.com
55+, in the NE area. Off of Menaul & Wyoming. Older property but very well maintained, nice grounds. If you don't want desert landscape, this is your best bet as it has trees and grass. From what I've seen, though, it appears to be more the older end of the senior spectrum. Nice office staff though (or they were when I went in).

There are more, these are the only ones I could remember the names.

If you don't need a pool or community room, you can rent a triplex or duplex unit in decent neighborhoods for $600-$750 (2 bedrooms, 1 or 2 bath depending). These aren't usually advertised though, you'd have to do a drive by in the neighborhoods and jot down the landlord phone numbers.

Yeah, the La Terrazza Apts are right across from the Ladera Golf course. I think they probably have some pretty good views of the volcanoes over the golf course as well. Convenient being pretty close to I-40 as well.

Also on the west side, and quite affordable:

Ladera Vista Apartments | Apartments in Albuquerque, NM

Diamond Mesa-Albuquerque

These are Downtown:

These are quite affordable if you fall within their income range:

Green rental apartments - Silver Gardens

Villa De San Felipe

There is an 4 story apartment building on the corner of Mountain and Texas that caters to 55+, but I cant remember the name.

Update, Terrazza, Cantera and El Paseo are all tax credit communities and have income limits. I think they're posted on the various websites.
