I plan on traveling around northern NM this summer and I would like to rent a Miata or similar two place sports car just for grins. Are any of you aware of anyplace that rents these in Albuquerque I will appreciate the contact info.

Thanks, Greg W

Thinking that the illuminati tend to head to Santa Fe, I assumed that you could more likely rent "special" vehicles there. I didn't find anything, but you'll find such vehicles in Scottsdale:

Luxury car rental, Exotic and Luxury Car Rental, Exotic car rental - Los Angeles, Phoenix & S. CA (broken link)

The drive up the Beeline Highway and over to Socorro via Rt 60 from Payson would be a total gas (heh) in a Miata or maybe a Z3 or something.

Um, ... you would have an excuse to visit the VLA (on the way). You would.

I wouldn't rule out finding 'exotic' rentals in Santa Fe, I just didn't have any luck.

I would call each of the rental agencies, with enough notice I'm sure they can get something comparable from Phoenix/Scottsdale.

I can't believe you didn't think driving from Scottsdale was a kick-butt idea.
Arizona has some nice scenery also.

I did think driving from Scottsdale was a good idea. I love driving damn near anywhere outside of big cities. I just don't think I will have the extra time but, as that drive should not take more than an extra day or two, if I have to get the car back to the originating location), I will look into it.

Otherwise I'll probably rent a GM cobalt and drive the wheels off the thing. a couple of years ago I drove a rented Nisssan compact to Mogollon, so regular sedans can be driven on less than interstate roads if you take care.

I checked the "sports car" rentals in Phoneix. Lots available for lots of money. Yikes!

Looks like plan "A" will do. Rent compact and drive wheels off the thing. Thanks for the help.
