I'm not sure I'll vote for Gus, but I applaud him for getting into the race at so young an age. He has obviously done his homework and some deep thinking about the local problems and opportunities. Well done.

While I agree, I believe I've seen his parents around town pushing a lot of his agenda, and they may be the real masterminds behind his campaign. I've heard not so great things from his UNM peers. I won't vote for him, but I applaud a fellow millennial for trying to change things.

I can not detect any "job/employment" experience for Gus... Gus Pedrotty For Mayor - Empower The Change I agree with some of his "visions", but wanting to do good, and achieving that goal are two difference issues.
But alas, I can not vote in those elections, I am not a resident of Albuquerque. But I can still follow the event...
I'm glad there were copies of the proposed sick leave ordinance, strewn around in various spots near the line I waited in to vote. I had been ambivalent about it, but after looking at it more closely I decided it was too punitive to employers. If employers require medical documentation related to sick leave, they have to pay all out of pocket expenses for it? Pretty extreme. My previous workplace was unionized and in a generally liberal city, but there was nothing remotely that extreme about it. Even glancing at the actual ordinance, I missed the part where it apparently makes it difficult to discipline an employee within ninety days of their taking sick leave.
I wouldn't necessarily be against a sick leave law of some sort, but this was not it.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Albuquerque voters narrowly rejected a proposal Tuesday that would have required employers to provide paid sick leave to workers, according to unofficial election returns.
Balloting in favor and against the ordinance was almost evenly split — 50 percent each — but opponents cast about 700 more ballots, out of roughly 91,000 altogether.
I was glad to see Tim Keller getting voted in for Mayor of Albuquerque.
