...lends credibility to the idea that City Data...or at least this section of CD... is nothing more than an elaborate, interactive advertisement for Realtors.
As opposed to a meeting place for locals and visitors to interact.
By keeping silent about these issues you hurt no one but City Data.
Prospective visitors and soon-to-be residents of Albuquerque WILL LEARN ABOUT THESE CRIMES (just like I did) from sources outside CD and ask themselves why no one here mentioned this to them before they moved.
You can erase this post too if you feel I am personally 'attacking' someone but, again, City Data is the only one who will suffer from expelling or censoring reasonable guests.
And the fact remains that City Data *has* just received a severe blow to it's credibility ...at least in one person's eyes.
I am a little puzzled about the reaction here as well. Not the lack of a CD sticky but the way the local press pretty much ignores the story until something "new" happens. Very little something "new" has happened recently, though. There do not seem to be any more bodies/parts showing up, AMW aired their segment, and the police are very quiet about this.
I've lived in other cities that had both current and past unsolved serial cases. The local press regularly broadcast/printed stories about the victims and suspect. The fact that the police seem adimant about this "not" being a serial killer's work is also very strange.
The way this case is being treated here by both the police ( where are the televised, updated briefings? ) and the local media is baffling. It seems that if the suspect is really not identified, there should be much more information being given out...even if it's just a repeat of older information that's already been broadcast.
Is the function of CD to be a news outlet? I don't think so. If people choose not to discuss the murders, so be it. Welcome to the world of Group Think.
There's a thread about it on the main page of the forum. It has been there for weeks.
This. And so what? It is a tragedy, not a conversation point.
If C-D is a shill for realtors it is doing a bad job since the most popular topics here are how crime-ridden, brown and dusty, and poor this state is and how if In N Out burger comes here, they won't let us put green chile on our burgers.
