Been there. Some parts of Miami tried that years ago. You end up with entrance ramps with a toll both with traffic jams spilling out to the residential areas. Tempers flared at times.

I have to agree with Andros, Tollways are the most efficient way of funding such a project.
Do I see something like this in the future? Possibly... The tunnels through the Manzanos seems a bit of a pipe dream however, but not entirely out of the question.
I thought the light rail system was another pipe dream of Marty's, however it is definately in the works!
So who knows... perhaps Richardson's bullet train may one day be a reality.
