We are considering a move to ABQ, and I have been reading this forum for months. I have two children; 8 mos and 2 years old. My experience has been that some places change over time and the best areas/schools for kids also change. Having said this what do you think the best high school/areas will be the best in 10+ years?

Thanks,

Why on earth would you worry about this now? Your oldest won't even enter HS until the 2022 school year? Pick a neighborhood with what looks like it might be headed towards continued good education in 2022 and then either get a waiver, pay for private or move to another neighborhood in 2019-2021 so you are ready.

Frankly, the best HS in 2022 could very well be one that is not even built yet.

This is one of the few times I fully agree with karmathecat.

I have kids and grandkids, two of my children graduated from high school 20 years ago.

I am trying to look back 10, 15 and 20 years in the past and glad I did not try to predict that issue, it would have been a disaster. It would not have helped the family.

The reason I ask is because I will be starting a business on west side If the East side is going to continue to have better schools I will choose location A which is closer to Paseo. If not I will choose location B which is about a 10-15 minute longer communte to the east side. I want to live as close to work as possible so I would like to where I will eventually end up living, therefore I am trying to decide East vs West. I have driven around both areas and am fine either way.

thanks,

Choosing where to live based on a business you want to start (in an area you don't know) is worse than choosing where to live based on where a woman you just met (but want to propose to) lives.

Your odds of not divorcing, on average, are better than the odds of your business not failing, on average.

For goodness sakes, rent! (That doesn't mean you have to rent cheap, either, by the way). By the time your kids hit kindergarten your business will have either rocketed to success or failed miserably (or the third, worst option). By then you'll only have half as many years of fortune-telling to worry about, and odds are, your business (or lack thereof) would need to move on to bigger and better digs anyway.
