How many know that there's more than just a taste difference between the two? Bushmill's is made in Northern Ireland, while Jameson's is made in the Republic of Ireland.

As far as the authentic whisky to make an Irish Coffee with, it's claimed that the bar at Shannon Airport, where the hot drink was invented to warm cold travelers, originally made the potion with Jameson or Powers.

And at the Buena Vista Cafe in San Francisco, which popularized the drink on that chilly city, and which is the single largest customer for Irish Whiskey in the US (almost 19,000 bottles a year), pours that tipple with Tullamore Dew.

I've heard that Bushmills is made by Catholics and Jamesons by Protestants, true?

There both ok. Redbreast cask strength if you want a great irish whiskey though.

Feckin'.

Jameson is decent and cheap. Mixed with ginger ale, it's pretty decent.
