Anyone else have this problem where they were allergic to foods and didnt know it for years? Years ago when I was like 12, I ate at Red Lobster and got super sick that night. I thought I had bad food. Well, I really noticed it when I moved to VA and became in love with crab cake. I bought some from the grocery store one time and became somewhat ill. I thought it was again bad food. I rarely ate seafood and because it had been so long ago before, I totally forgot about my sickness. The two never connected. I also ate at another restaurant that was known for seafood and ate hush puppies and once again felt terrible. Never thought they cooked the food in the same oil.

Well, it finally came to me one night when we went out to a restaurant that was known as a BBQ restaurant. Well, I ate chicken, potatoes and everything but seafood. That night I became severely ill. I begged my husband to take me to the ER (he still should have but didnt) but I truly dont know how I would have gotten there. I couldnt stay out of the bathroom. I lost so much weight in one night. I had to go to the doctor just to get a shot to make my naseau go away.

Turns out I'm allergic to shellfish...but I've noticed that every time I have it, or something cooked in the same oil, I get 10 times more sick now.

Anyone else have that problem?

First, I would never eat at Red Lobster but that's another story.

My allergies are anything with MSG.
And that ingredient can be found in many grocery store items.

Speaking of MSG, they are now disguising it in many food products. It can be added under the names "yeast extract" and "yeast" "natural flavors" etc on some food labels.
I wish there was more of a truth in labeling act, where they disclosed what was really in our foods. And what exactly the 'natural flavors' really are. I have severe problems with certain wheat ingredients, and it causes me severe pain when i accidentally eat anything with it. I say accidentally, because i am an avid label reader and it still gets me at times, disguised under another name.

I am allergic to shellfish, I found out when I had contrast with an Xray. I went into anaphalactic shock.
Seems Iodine triggers it. Which is odd, because Iodine isn't a protein...
Be very careful. I can't even eat at places like Mongolian Barbecue because they could have stirfried scallops on the grill before mine. And watch out for Japanese steakhouses where they throw scallops, etc. on the grill too.
My family has a lot of food allergies. I am also allergic to dairy, which I hate, but if I get any dairy in me, I am sick all night, so I am very careful.
My daughter is very allergic to peanuts, and we almost lost her once. She goes into anaphalaxis, but her first symptom is nausea or her lips swell.
Please read up on all you can about food allergies. Don't let anyone tell you that "one little bite won't hurt." It can kill.

Yes and I still dont know what is causing my reaction!!!!

I have had it since I was 4 or 5 and recently I came to a conclusion IT MUST BE AN ALLERGIC REACTION to something I am eating!!

The other day I ate @ mcdonalds (2 double cheeseburgers, large fries and drink) -- That night I got this same reaction...... It feels like I am being zapped with hi voltage (ORIGINATES IN MY MOUTH),it affects my whole body... When I try to lay down and goto sleep I CANT AS IN MY MOUTH I FEEL HI VOLTAGES (Thats the best I can explain) -- Sometimes if I get up IT STOPS but not always........

Sounds in the background can set it off, someone brushing up against me,etc......... If I rub my arm,i feel high voltages in my mouth......

This is the first time Its happend after eating @ mcdonalds AFTER THEY CHANGED TO ALL 100% BEEF (So I thought i something in thier food was bothering me but I guess not (They must be still using whatever is bothering me)) Almost seems like something wrong with my Nervous System....

I am pretty sure its a reaction to some ingredient but Im @ a loss to find out what......

My stomach has started hurting a bit with this last reaction yesterday and I have a strange headache.. (Might be sinus related also,im not sure)

Anyone know what this might be??

Yup! I had allergies to eggs, wheat, milk, and five other things since a young child. I naturally refused to eat milk products as a child, but my mother worried about calcium and growth and fed it to me anyway. Needless to say they always thought I was a sickly, weak child prone to ear infections and random vomiting and all over hive episodes. As an adult I was finally diagnosed- I almost died from my allergies and finally the doctors figured it out! It has been a rough journey and I find that now I know my body well that I am sensitive to other things as well. It is liberating, but constricting at the same time. I am now well, but I eat such an odd array of foods I am always feeling awkward. But cest la vie!
