Throw away your nuker. NEVER nuke a lemon! All the enzymes will vanish! D'oh!

It doesn't matter if she nukes her lemon or not. Lemon juice has -zero- effect on blood PH. None, zilch, nada. It has very little effect on the PH of the stomach - since the stomach will produce more acid, if needed, and less, if not. It is self-regulating.

Blood pH is regulated by the body to stay within the range of 7.35 to 7.45. I wonder if the acid/alkaline folks are referring to the blood's pH within that range.

Oy vey...You don't know the difference between a head of romaine lettuce and a rump roast and that one is acidic and the other alkaline? And cooking things turns them acidic so don't!

Macrobiotic people were always concerned about acid and alkaline but I never knew exactly what they were referring to.

This isn't the food forum. It's the alt-med forum. This thread is about the effects of food on the PH levels of the body and illness. Someone suggested that lemon water was helpful.

It isn't. It isn't helpful, whether you nuke the lemon or not. Lemon water does not, and cannot, change the PH levels of the blood. And since the stomach regulates its own acid and alkaline levels, it doesn't matter if you drink lemon water or not. The stomach will adjust to it, and neutralize it. Lemon will not affect the stomach. The stomach will affect the lemon. That is basic physiology.

For those who want the ACV concoction (which is similar to the lemon juice) remember to get RAW organic apple cider vinegar with the mother (visible culture). Unfiltered, too. Be very careful because Whole Foods' ACV is pasteurized so it's acidic!

Raw lemon juice is great as a mucus-dissolver, also. Very cleansing. NEVER get bottled, cooked lemon juice, which is acidic!
