I think part of the difficulty in researching this would be that before about 1930, cancer was fairly rare, and the cure rate was very high. Some other treatments besides cannabis were banned by govt, or no longer approved by medical associations. Some treatments were just forgotten about, too many people became skeptics as pill cos. & specialist Docs repeated they had the only answers.
Also, I keep wondering when the word cancer was first used, and if the condition existed before that, what was it called?
A possible source I haven't checked lately: cancertutor.com/ They had kept off cannabis because they didn't want people getting arrested because of their advice. They have been persuaded to add cannabis with the disclaimer that you are responsible, not them, for knowing the laws that apply to your area. I saw before they listed some common treatments that were used circa 1930. They may have collected info now under cannabis that goes back a way.
The first report in USA that cannabis fought cancer, AFAIK, was the 1974 VA study. Govt found out & stopped the study. Oldest reports of use I've found said used as intoxicant. In 2nd century AD, a surgeon in China applied it topically for some of his most painful procedures, such as skin grafts.
Some people very knowledgeable about cannabis are on forums that are specific to this group of plants.
forums.cannabisculture.com/ is one. They have under medical Granny Storm Crow's list 2009 that shows studies of medical uses, arranged alphabetically by conditions helped. But these are studies just from the last few decades. You can see on there several types of cancer that are helped.
If you haven't already tried this type into search box history of cannabis as a cancer treatment, history of marijuana as a cancer treatment, earliest methods of treating cancer, etc. In The Holdy Bible OLd Testament, a Rabbi translated from a scroll done before 3rd century B.C., when translated into greek. It was called kaneh bosm (various spellings exist). He says (I guess) because of different number of letters in Hebrew alphabet, when translated into Greek, cannabis was wrongly listed as calamus, a reedy marsh plant with no known medicinal value.
Cannabis was said to be mentioned 5 times in Genesis alone, was the burning bush that was never consumed, one of the ingredients in the Holy anointing oils, "honeycomb" in Song of Solomon, "honeywood" in I Samuel, "Tree of Life" in Revelations.
The book Licit & Illicit Drugs (1972) published by Consumers Union, the Consumer Reports publisher, details medical information about cannabis in the 1800s. But I still don't know when it was first used as a cancer treatment. Hope you find that info. Best wishes.

I'm looking for more detailed information on actual uses in older times. Specifically my research is about cancer and cannabis.
Huckleberry if you have nothing constructive to add, why post?
