"...Women's primary care specialist Dr Iris Tong, of Brown University, Rhode Island, who led the review, said: 'Up to 75 per cent of women use herbal and complimentary medicines to treat their postmenopausal symptoms.

'Therefore, it is vitally important for healthcare providers to be aware of and informed about the non-pharmacological therapies available for women who are experiencing postmenopausal symptoms and who are looking for an alternative to HRT.'

I can tell you from personal experience, I certainly did use herbs and suffered minimal menopausal symptoms. The herbal formula I used contained Wild Yam Root, Chaste Tree Berry (Vitex), Dong Quai Root, Black Cohosh Root, Licorice, Sage, Maca Root and Hops.

This article written by an herbalist talks about the benefits of the ingredients in the formula I took.

Doing HRT or even Bio-identical hormones for that matter, never entered my mind.

Watching your diet and getting sleep also helps.

I think since the first article came out, people have learned not to do too much soy.

I succumbed to Premrin back in the early 90's as I was still going thru the "pause" and omg, my breasts got hard as rocks....I got off that drug, and eventually found the DHEA journey.

Do you know what is in Premarin? It is made out of a pregnant mare's urine. Premarin (Premarine) ERT/HRT & PMU Farms Controversy: Page 1

Oh yes I knew that BUT I guess I have having issues that were tough for me at the time..I was in my 50's...and I went ahead with the pharma drug. But as I said, I got off it. I truly trust the iodine keeps my breasts healthy and no mamms for me.

Just talking to a friend and since she is taking 5mg of DHEA she is feeling so much better and this low dose is even helping her asthma issues. She found a lot of info on this in Dr. Perlmutter's book on hormones. I still take DHEA and have been for many years. Do not miss my daily dose of iodine. Breasts are fine.

esp. since HRT has been implicated in stroke and heart attack.
see the Women's Health Initiative study
https://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/whi/whi_faq.htm

which was funded by the govt and NOT by the pharmaceutical industry. (rare)

the results were so dramatic of the effect of estrogen that they stopped the study, due to risk to women in the study.
which is unprecedented.
