It might be preventive but no one is sure. I still get the screenings for colon cancer. Might be a good idea to take it when you're past the age of colonoscopies at least.

That's true but then I always go to my parents and all my family members and no testing back then and they all lived into late years of life. We all choose and I choose NOT to see doctors and tests and and and and count on what I do. We all have our mindsets and what medical we choose.
No one is sure of anything and one can end up with infection, perforation from the test etc etc. The longer I live and after coming out of a nasty infection, I have more concern for more infections than ever. The less invasive of anything the better in my mind/body.
I know I'm in the minority on this forum as to my healing methods, but I know I'm not alone in this big world.

My best friend's mother died of colon cancer. She had to have a colostomy (the bag) in her old age and it was horrible for her. As a result, my friend has to have frequent colonoscopies. So far, so good. Yes, it all depends on the person and we can try helpful supplements and good diet with fiber and avoidance of certain food additives that have been linked to colon cancer.

I have a friend right now in a bad way and just recently another emergency surgery and now a colostomy bag and I'm sure she followed all the "standard testings" in her life. I talked to her about grape seed ex yrs ago and she just didn't go with it, whether it would have saved her who knows. Going with grape seed ex yrs ago was the comment "it may prevent cancers" was the huge reason. Everyone has to feel comfortable with their choices and I guess I do or wouldn't do as I do nor would all the other members.
I've had some invasive works and live with complications, but we do what we feel is best at the time.
And it's not all gloom and doom but "s***" happens. We do our best.
Someone repped me with no identity about being forewarned, well good grief I've been taking grape seed ex for about 24 yrs and this many years for no allergy drugs or docs and same for good eyesight and good dental issues. So I'm foerwarned. There are 100's of info sites on Grape Seed Ex and the numerous benefits. Thanks.
Sorry you fell for that.....quit bread, it's not healthy and quit milk, I did and I noticed the difference...you can/will too !
[ notmilk dot com ] and read that, look up glyphosate, they spray the wheat in the field with that, and ruined all our flour products, no longer healthy...
Einkorn flour has escaped that spraying practice for some reason, so If you got a bread machine gathering dust in a closet or whatever, you now have a valid reason to bake your own...you can get the flour on amazon...

If you have no serious health conditions at the age of 80 you are simply lucky. I have seen some people over my lifetime who lived into their 90s who did not take care of themselves. This includes a few family members. They never took supplements or went to the Dr, one had rotten black and green teeth and yet they stayed in good health until close to dying. A lot of this is genetics. Survival of the fittest some may call it.

Luck, we so often make our own luck. My luck was choosing to go to the Pycnogenol lecture back in 1995 and hearing what I heard from the panel and jumping on Pycnogenol and then subsequently Grape Seed Extract...I believe for sure it's kept me off allergy and sinus drugs and what else, I don't know...but very little pharma drugs in my life. So few know of this herbal miracle in our huge population.
Also, on the luck thinking, one can be at the right place at the right time or the wrong place at the wrong time etc. For me in my health prevention world, it's using my intuition and going with it. Again I started my journey in early 50's, so it's certainly not too late for most around here as most are all younger than me now.
