A tip for the terminally gullible-- Any time you read the word "toxin" in an article, your well functioning BS-o-Meter should be pegged out with all the bells and whistles roaring.

BTW-- Did you hear about the homeless guy who put Odor Eaters in his shoes... and then disappeared after walking two blocks?

Health spas and alternative health businesses are increasingly offering foot detoxes as a way to remove toxins and heavy metals from the body. However, they also said there is no scientific evidence to confirm that our detox foot pad is really helpful.

The term "Junk science" does not even deserve to have the word 'science' in it.

It's insulting to peoples' intelligence. Makes my blood boil that so many of these 'Natural' 'Health & Wellness' products and businesses are far worse and fraudulent than any pharmaceutical company.. they're totally predatory and not-science-based at all... just preying on peoples' desire to feel better, and their willingness to BELIEVE it works.

And all the accomplices, salespeople and small pharmacy owners that hock this garbage.. they just LIE to people, pretending that this stuff is actually doing something!

They are wasting peoples' time and money that could be spent on a REAL treatment that could actually WORK.
Furthermore.. many of these 'natural' cures can actually make you much sicker than you were before.

Just use your critical thinking skills, people! (or develop some, if you don't have any)

Yeah there's a difference between "treatments that have not been proven" and "products that have been proven to not work."

If something hasn't been proven effective, you can of course call it alt-med.

But if something has been proven to be ineffective or even dangerous, then it's no longer alt-med. It's fraud.

For example:

Using full strength bleach as a cure for an open wound: proven to be dangerous. Not alt-med. Fraud.

Using a peroxide dilution to clean an open wound: Proven to be useful. Normal med.

Using comfrey leaves as a poultice to treat an open wound: Proven to be useful herbalism: folk med.

Using homeopathic tincture to treat an open wound: not proven to do any good at all, but not disproven either: alt med.
