I am currently majoring in International Affairs, and have increasingly found myself interested in agriculture and agribusiness in S. America. Where do you see the region going, when it comes to this field?
Personally, I think the continent has huge potential, which Brazil, for example, has only now begun to realize, but I also think that if they all vie to become agro-powers, this could lead to conflict as competition erupts. I know that Chile is looking to become one of the top world food exporters within the decade. I wonder what that will mean, as it tries to enter a market that Brazil has a huge stake in, especially as Chile is closer to Brazil's main market: China, and has much better infrastructure. And furthermore, where does all this put the US' exporting goals?
Thoughts?
