Internet Speeds in Latin America.. (particularly Central America). Anywhere to avoid??? (best, cost)

I'm trying to narrow down places i can visit long-term and try to learn spanish. But I have online businesses I need to maintain, and I'd need to rent a place with good internet connection.

So I'm asking.. are there any regions or countries that I should probably rule out completely? If one or two countries in Latin America, or particularly Central America have amazingly slow internet speeds overall, I'd like to know.

Specific countries I'd be curious about:
Panama (outside of panama city)
Ecuador
Nicaragua

and all others too!. Which ones should i avoid?

In CA, all very slow. The fastest average speed (a quarter of USA average speed) is Pamana (4.36 Mbps), followed by Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Belize (2.61 Mbps). Ecuador is faster than any of those, at 5.81.

Thanks. I found the world map of internet speeds and was shocked to see how low it all was in CA.

I guess my best bet is Mexico. Or uruguay if i'm really willing to go far.

I don't know how much you should rely on such a measure. Lower speeds might just be due to the population not wanting or able to pay for highest speeds. Also level of urban population will make a big difference too. Not that I think CA speeds would match others, just it might be possible to get it if you are willing to pay more.

Costa Rica's Cabletica offers speeds of up to 15Mbps. Looks like they give you prices in USD, considering the low numerical values of them

Mexico's Megacable offers up to 100Mbps but I'm pretty sure only select cities and neighborhoods have that high a speed. Otherwise, you also have 50Mbps and 20Mbps available with that company

Internet is pretty prevalent in most of central america, though there are no options for the super high speed that you can get in other parts of the world. Here in Nicaragua there are options for up to 3MB speeds, but thats about it.
Generally you get 1MB, but you can pay more for the "higher" speeds.
Outside of the capital city, you really only have one option, the cable company. Or you can get one of those USB internet things, but those are ridiculously slow and have really spotty service.
