Agree with that.

Even when it is in the international headlines for the traffic war, for instance, it does not appear in Brazilian tv news. I kindly think that your analysis is completely wrong...
Brazil is one country. Hardly representative of the bulk of Latin America.

I think the Latin American countries with the most unique cultures are Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, Mexico, Peru

I'm of Dominican descent for the record. Probably would agree with you even if you said most but not all Dominicans are like that. I do think a lot of Dominicans are in denial but it's hard for the African influences to not show up culturally even if they may try to suppress it.

Most hispanics aren't fond of Mexico at all. Living in Southern California, the amount of people who travel down to Mexico for a weekend or vacation has dropped to the point where I can't remember the last time any of my friends have gone down there. It's only a 3 hour drive down there and no one ever thinks of going.

From my experience, nothing touches Spain with this topic. 2nd place is probably Argentina.

You should also read the following thread : Why Mexicans not liked by Hispanics?

Which contradicts your statement.
Very interesting.

Don't read that thread. Why would OP ask that type of question if the OP doesnt even the difference between Nationality and Ethnicity? Mexicans are Hispanics

I could just do the same. Post an ignorant thread and ask why the World hates the United States and just see everyone last out at the United States.

Most Hispanics? I think that is a very generalizing and ignorant statement. Your circle of friends do not represent the millions of people in Latin America. Many people choose not to vacation in Mexico anymore due to the violence. However, for your information, there are many Latin Americans, and even Asians and Europeans living in Mexico. My vet in Tijuana is Venezuelan, one of my mechanics when I lived there was Argentine, and there is even a Colombian restaurant in the beach area of Baja. Thousands of South Americans and Spaniards also live in central Mexico. My Brazilian niece currently studies in Guadalajara and loves it so much, she wants to stay to live there.

I usually find uncultured or ignorant Hispanics not liking the country. Or, Hispanics who come here and adopt anti-Mexican feelings so popular in the US Southwest. To each their own, but they are missing out on one of the most artistic and vibrant cultures of the Americas.

It is true that Mexico is the largest Spanish speaking country and the fact that it is next to the United States has helped its culture be known by a much wider audience (US and Canada). Mexican media does seem to be ubiquitous throughout Latin America as well, however I don't think it has the overall pull that say the U.S. does in the English-speaking world and definitely not that of France in the French-speaking world.

As far as Mexico City, it is a huge city and the largest metropolitan area in the Spanish-speaking world, but I was curious to see where it ranked economically. Both Madrid and Mexico City are ranked highest in the Spanish-Speaking world as "Alpha Cities", so I tried to find more criteria to see where Spanish-speaking cities rank.

According to the Institute for Urban Strategies "Global Power City Index" in 2012, Mexico City ranks #36 with a score of 781.0 while Barcelona ranks 13 with 964.6 and Madrid 22 with 908.6.

According to the Global Cities Index in 2012 Madrid ranks #18, Buenos Aires #22, Barcelona #24 and Mexico City #34

Based on the 500 Largest Global Companies, Mexico has 3 with Pemex, America Movil and CFE. However, Spain has 8 entries in the list (the most out of any Spanish-speaking country) with Santander, Telefonica, Repsol, BBVA, ACS, Iberdola, Gas Natural Fenosa and Mapfre.

Spanish Speaking Countries/Territories by GDP in 2012 according to the United Nations (millions of $US)
1. Spain $1,322,126
2. Mexico $1,183,655
3. Argentina $477,028
4. Venezuela $382,424
5. Colombia $369,889
6. Chile $268,314
7. Peru $204,681
8. Puerto Rico $103,516
9. Ecuador $87,495
10. Cuba $71,017
11. Dominican Republic $58,898
12. Guatemala $50,377
13. Uruguay $49,919
14. Costa Rica $45,107
15. Panama $36,253
16. Bolivia $27,035
17. Paraguay $25,935
18. El Salvador $23,864
19. Honduras $18,564
20. Equatorial Guinea $14,491
21. Nicaragua $10,508

So looking at the data above, I'd say that both Mexico and Spain seem to be the dominant countries economically of the Spanish-speaking world with Spain being in the lead, however who has more pull culturally is subjective, though I'd give that to Mexico due to it being in the Americas.

On a side note, I've visited Mexico quite a few times in different regions of the country and there are some beautiful cities, beaches and good food. My one complaint is the constant harassment by vendors trying to sell unwanted crap in any touristy town. I've travelled extensively around the world and the vendors in Mexico seem to be among the most annoying.
