Why is it that a lot of Hispanics don't like or get along with Mexicans?

This can go both ways. It's a two way street. The human race is always dividing itself up and often over petty things. Can't we all just get along? *sigh*

Other Latin Americans look down on us, especially the Cubans and Central and South Americans look down on us because in the United States, they see us as dumb, ghetto, poor, etc. Also it's because most Hispanics/Latinos are Mexican in the same way that most Asians are Chinese. and when a South American comes to the USA and people thinks he's Mexican he gets offended.

However, the reverse actually happens in Latin America, some Mexicans can be pretty arrogant too and look down on the South Americans, the Central Americans and the ones from the Caribbean.

This is because Mexico has the 2nd highest GDP in LA after Brazil (largest in the hispanophone) and only Chile, Argentina and Uruguay have a higher HDI. Mexico City is bigger in population and/or in GDP than some South American countries.

I know for a fact there is a dislike between Puerto Ricans and Mexicans. Are there other hispanic nationalities that also don't get along with Mexicans?

Ask a Hispanic person how many times someone assumed that they were Mexican. Mexicans give Hispanics a bad-rep because of the drug cartels and illegal immigration. Many assume (or don't know the difference) between the different Hispanic/Latino origins.

ETA: There was a thread on this recently. See the responses that others had: //www.city-data.com/forum/mexic...-mexicans.html

I was married to a man from Honduras.....

He told me the Mexicans spoke very low Spanish....that they generally lack education and just wanted to work enough to buy beer and drugs that night.

He did not think their families came first.

LOL, Mexicans ARE Hispanics! The reason Mexican and OTHER Hispanic Races don't always get along is the same reason different white races and different black races don't get along....People suck! I guarantee if you asked A Mexican why he didn't like a Puerto Rican, or a Puerto Rican why he didn't like a Dominican, you'd just get nonsense, not a real answer, no fact, just a taught blind hatred.
