ISTANBUL – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is claiming that Muslim sailors reached the Americas more than 300 years before explorer Christopher Columbus. Full STORY @Turkey's Erdogan: Muslims discovered Americas | Fox News
Columbus also thought he met the Emperors of China and Japan in Cuba so one should take anything in the New World that he identifies with an Old World entity.

There were Muslim Moors who played a vital role in early ship crews. There is also evidence that a ship with Moors crashed and the people from that ship survived and moved inland, intermarrying with Whites, Indians, and escaped Blacks. Today there is a significant non White minority group called Melungeons in Southern Appalachia that claim descent from Moors/ Spanish sailors. DNA evidence has been mixed but it's interesting none the less. It's also true that some percent of Black slaves that came here were Muslims who were forced to convert.
That said I'm not a big fan of Muslim immigration to North America. Most of them are fine members of society but they're the main group that always has a few that becoming terrorist. I can't recall any attacks perpetrated by Koreans or Colombians. I am fine with allowing non native Muslims to come here to our universities because we (Americans) need to hear what the rest of the world thinks.
