Scored a round trip fare for 400. What are some must things to do? I'll be in bogota for 2 months but I can travel around for weekend trips. What's the best way to get exchange money?

If you need to pay transportation from the airport to the hotel then exchange some small amount here. I am not sure how safe is to withdraw money from Bogota's airport since I have never need it to do so but that's why I do when I travel to Europe. I never exchange money in the US.

After that you can withdraw money from ATM machines but be very careful. I try to withdraw money ATM supermarkets or El Exito(that's like Walmart there) I always look around to make sure no one is following me, better if you go with another person who can check discretely what's going on around you. I also only withdraw money in high class areas. I don't take any chances.

I've only been in the airport in Bogota. But I have been to Cali, Cartagena and Barranquilla. I used ATM's to withdraw money. As noted above, just do it during the day, in a safe part of the city and be aware of your surroundings when doing so. You'll be fine if you use these precautions.

You can exchange money there but no need to bother with the prevalence of ATM's.

How is it your are going there for 2 months? Long vacation? Taking a Spanish course? Colombia is awesome. You'll have a blast.

I speak Spanish but I'm going with the intent of bettering it so I'll be taking a course. I can't wait! I'm also wondering whether anyone knows how I can go about getting housing? I'm just looking for a room for two months.

Have you tried AirBnB?

Some suggestions for a tourist: Visit the Cerro de Monserrate, a mountain top with a great view of the city. You get there by cablecar, and there is a church on top. Also Andres Carne De Res restaurant (never been there myself but others I know like it). Visit the Museo del Oro, a museum of pre-colombian gold and precious stones crafts. If you're brave enough, take a Chiva bus to see the City at night.

You can find some great places on Airbnb, unless I know someone I don't think I would stay in bogota two months.... I'd go to San andres island, Medellin, the coffee highlands.
