Hi there!!!

Thinking of moving back to Brazil after 15 years in the U.S.... Family illness reason. I have a baby and a 8-year-old girl, and she's really excited about, since she was only 4 last time we visited.

I'm very aware of all the cons, of course. I love the U.S.; but my husband got a job opportunity there (paid in reais) and it seems good timing since we both have sick elderly parents back there.

Even though it ow we can come back of thing go bad there, I have to be realistic that it won't be that easy to find a good job for my husband here plus all the money that we will be spending.

Sooooooo... My main concern is safety. Is really that bad???? That would be the only reason for me not to go back. I'm an emotional wreck here and really feeling like going back, but Im afraid to be risking my kids and husband's safety, specially that he will be work late hours...

Any advice or insights????

Thanks!!!

Any time one is positioned to make a choice like yours, it is is very difficult decision. Do you stay? Do you go? May I ask you questions?

Do you each have aunts, uncles or cousins who can help/ look in on your parents on a regular basis? Can you each afford to go separately for a short visit leaving spouse and child at home?

The other side of the equation is about the children. Are you prepared to leave US health care and education forever? Forever is a very long time if you do not have the money to ......

15 years ago SP state was obviously a lot worse than it is today, and its also obvious that today it is not good either. So do a discount in your memories of the 90's and you have an idea of how it is today.
In other areas Brazil is also way better than in the past century, but if you're really addapted in USA, you will have a lot of hard time in this re-adaptation, because in many things life here is complicated, as you must know.

My sister lives in USA since 1990. My mother died in 2005, and she haven't seen her for 8 years before her death. Sincerely, in my opinion nothing in the world compensates it. If I were you I wouldn't think twice about coming back.
