Is adoracion the best Spanish word for worship? Like if I asked, "If I moved to Bogota, would all the Colombian women worship me?" Would adoracion be the best word for worship in this instance?

Worship translates into one of several words. However, I agree with Tuporaqui's translation of Idolatrar.

I would go with idolatatrar. The word adoracion runs a serious risk of being offensive in this context.


It's like in English. If you make a difficult jump shot, your friend might say "you are a god", but you probably wouldn't say "you are JC. I praise you". It would go from tongue in cheek to blasphemous in polite company.

I´d translate as "adorar" "Si me mudase a Bogotá. ¿Todas las colombianas me adorarían?". "Idolatrar" (idolize) it's more about how a teenager sees a rock-star: hysteria, fainting fit, etc.

I will go with the last explanation, but I would change the verb to "Amar o gustar" Todas las chicas me amarían or gustarían de mi. The verb "idolatrar" is more used in context of religious terms and like someone said, if you do something great you have people who idolatra you.
