I really like folklore. I always loved sitting around as a children listening to adults tell stores about legends and folklore that usually held hidden lessons. Countries in the Americas are full of really cool folklore.

I have many I really like... however this one is currently my favourite ( ... and I might be content playing this spiritual character if heaven and hell happen to be full when I die .... it would be certainly good for a few laughs... I know a few particular men that I would person love to pull this prank on .... April fools day is just around the corner )

Please share any other folklore from around the Americas !

There are so much Folklore in Brazil!

Here one from Amazon:

This is the Boto, a river dolphin that lives in the rivers of the Amazon

Amazon Legend says the Boto can turn and go to parties in the region in the form of a handsome and strong man, dressed in white, tan and very fragrant, inviting the girls to dance and then he seduces them. But the dolphin never takes off his hat to hide his secret: a hole in the head where he breathes.

So every maiden was alerted by their mothers to take care of receiving flirtations of handsome boys at dances or parties. Behind them, could be the dolphin figure, a conqueror of hearts, which can impregnate them and abandon them.

The legend serves as a pretext to justify the girls pregnancy without marriage. "It was the boto", they say.

This is the Boto Legend being performed at Parintins' Festival

That is pretty cool ( and holds a really valuable lesson).

https://seronosur.files.wordpress.co...-huascaran.jpg

This pre-incan myth is about Huandoy a goddess and Huascaran a human, the fell in love and the father of the goddess did not approve; so he turned them into two frozen peaks so that they could never touch each other however they could see each other. Their tears flow into the turquoise colored lake.
The music is pre-incan played with modern instruments and relates to the myth.

Love and lust themes seem to be a pretty popular. This one has a class conscious vibe .... I think ... Men don't try and marry up as your pursuit will destroy the both of you. Interesting.
