The majority of Honduras is mestizo, but how indigenous is it compared to other Latin American countries? Did you get any type of indigenous vibe or feeling in Honduras?

There are few pure indigenous people in Honduras. There are some chorti-Mayans near the Guatemalan border. Very few if any speak Mayan language. The largest indigenous group in Honduras are the Lencas. I don't know if any still speak their native language. I believe there are also small groups of Indigenous people on the Miskito coast near the border with Nicaragua.

There are also Garifunas, who are a mix of Indigenous people and Caribs. I think Lenca is still spoken in some parts of Honduras, but the chaos going on in Honduran society is a problem for everyone, including Native peoples, sadly. It's hard to pick up on an Indigenous vibe when there's a lot of violence going on. Before the Iran-Contra war, I'd say yes, Honduras had an extraordinary and mellow vibe, both in the countryside, and in some of the cities. The Garifuna people out on the islands were very cool--wonderful people.

Central Americans claim to be mestizos but to be honest what they call mestizo looks really indigenous a lot of the time. Especially if you compare them with really mixed south american people who look like a lot of things.

Ok Irene, The OP asked specifically about Honduras. Honduras IS a very mixed place, just as much as any South American country.

My Honduran cousins are blonde and blue eyed with a German last name. This is not uncommon down there.

Central America is large and diverse, each country has a unique blend of cultures. Costa Rica vs Honduras vs Belize vs Guatemala= very different racial compositions.
