For the first time in my life, I finally got to hear the beautiful sounds of Brasil live at an open air concert at the Hollywood Bowl just last night. I always admired the music of Sergio Mendes. Finally, I got to see him live. One less thing on my "bucket list." At age 75, The Man is as good as he was in 1966 - 50 years ago.

Brasil, thank you so much for bringing such joy and happiness to the world. Thank you for showing the world how to party with such smooth elegance, and sabor.

Will try to upload a short clip later.

I'm still jazzed!

Cool, glad you liked the show.

I am also a fan of Brazilian music. I had the pleasure of seeing Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso perform together at the Microsoft Theater in downtown LA a few months ago. It was a great show, even if they are both in their 70's.

These clips were taken by someone seated in a much better place.

It was a wonderful experience.

I remember buying "Mais Que Nada" when it hit the local charts in my area in mid October of 1966. At the same time I bought Los Bravos "Black Is Black" and Peter and Gordon's "Lady Godiva." Bought them at the local Woolworth's (yep, I'm old!)

And in a little over two years later Mendez and Brasil 66 went top 10 with "Night And Day", "Look Around", "The Look Of Love," and "Pretty World."''The cover songs, the Beatles "The Fool On The Hill" and Simon and Garfunkel's version of "Scarborough Fair?" What great interpretations THEY are!

Chaco is right, Mendez has been at it for 50 years, and he has released an album a year in that same amount. Actually, he has released 55 albums. I've picked up some of his recent releases from the last few years, "Encanto" and "Bon Tempo." Great, great music. I recommend them!

Yes, it was sweet, happy, proud, and enthusiastic! It reflected very much the nature of Brazilian People. Three cheers for Rio and Brazil. Great for them to get the Gold Medal in soccer, too!

Yes. It was thrilling to watch Brasil redeem itself from the German 7-1 loss two years ago.
