Jamaica is known for rastas [considered cool to mainstream America], reggae [considered cool to mainstream America], ganja/weed [considered extremely cool to mainstream America], exaggerated dramatic accents [considered funny to mainstream America] and being very laid back [very cool to mainstream America].
Most people don't really know much about Trinidad (except for Nicki Minaj who isnt even actually from Trinidad technically, isn't even THAT popular outside of so-called "Urban America" and isn't considered to have that likeable of a personality {which is part of the reason why Cardi B is outshining her so easily - but lets save that discussion for another thread!}). Jamaica has also been aggressively marketed as one of the main Caribbean travel destinations for generations while Trinidad has not.

Also, although lots of Americans probably could not find Jamaica on a map many go there for Vacation.
No Americans could find Trinidad on a map and no one goes there on vacation.
Calypso and Soca used to be REALLY popular back in the day.
That's not something unique to Trinidad since other islands did Calypso and Soca back in the day as well.Harry Belafonte was a popular Calypso artist, he was Jamaican.
Jamaicans have a popular culture known through out the globe that is second (if not on par )with Hip Hop Dancehall is popular globally.
This is not the first time since they have made Ska,Rocksteady,and Reggae.
I see what you're saying but as has been said by other posters Trinidad is by no means unknown, especially not in the UK at least anyway and there's a growing sizeable Trini student body in Colombian Universities too. Jamaica just punches well above its weight especially as its undeniably one of the pillars of Anglo popular culture along with the UK and US especially.

I think people in Brazil are quite insular and don't really understand the impact of other countries around the world. Jamaica has given the world far more than just reggae.
Trinidad is largely industrial rather than tourist-based. So its focus very different from that of Jamaica and most other Caribbean islands. Jamaica concentrates greatly on bringing visitors but Trinidad focuses more on its petrochemical industry. Tourism is only around 7% of Trinidad’s GDP. For Jamaica, tourism contributes to over 30% of its GDP.
Trinidad’s greatest musical contribution is the steel pan, which is heard throughout the Caribbean and in tropical commercials around the world. It has been adopted as the national instrument of a number of islands. Many have no idea though. It has contributed greatly to regional culture, as soca and calypso have spread to many other islands. But again, it has an industrial focus more than anything.

Even when it comes to the major cruise lines, I don't think any of them have a Trinidad port.
(Carnival, Norwegian, Royal Caribbean, Princess, Disney, Celebrity, Cunard, etc)
Trinidad is a business hub, not a tourist spot. I think people have the idea that every island is supposed to be tourist-focused. Trinidad is hardly that. Tobago, on the other hand, caters more to tourism.
To paint a better picture of its focus, Trinidad hosted the 5th Summit of the Americas in 2009, attended by the leaders of North, Central and South America as well as the Caribbean. The summit is focused on economic issues, energy etc. So Trinidad, as an industrial island, was an appropriate choice as a host nation. Other host countries include the U.S., Canada Bolivia, Argentina, Panama, Colombia etc. This type of event is less likely to be hosted in the very tourist-focused islands.
There are cruise ships that come to Trinidad and Trinidad Carnival brings lots of visitors at that time. But T&T on a whole is very different from the other nations that depend greatly on tourism.
