When you are wiring money from the US to Mexico, do you use the Mexican bank account number or the Clabe number? Unfortunately, my bank (branch manager) doesn’t know and they say that can’t complete the transaction if they don’t know. They believe it is the guide’s bank’s job to tell us which number to use on their form. I asked the guide and he thinks it is up to my bank to figure it out. How am I supposed to know this and/or solve this problem? I know nada about this. I have never even heard of a Clabe number before today.
"CLABE is the abbreviation of Standardized Bank Code and is a banking standard for the numbering of bank accounts in Mexico. This rule is a requirement for sending and receiving interbank domestic transfers of funds as of June 1, 2004. The CLABE is an 18-digit number."
The Mexican bank should know exactly what you´re referring to, no problem. Get in touch with them and it´s done.
