Anyone here dealt with attorneys in Colombia or even Latin America. Having trouble getting them to respond to direct requests for their fees for specific services and the time frame to be expected to completion. Anyone have an explaination for that? Do they think anyone who asks these questions cannot be easily scammed or what?
Customer service is an achilles heel present in the entire region (better yet to say customer service doesn’t exist in much south of the border). That is something where the USA stands apart (with that comes the fake smile you are often greeted in US stores, while no such thing is widespread in Latin America and that can be a shock to Americans).
Your best bet is to meet the attorneys in person. The second best option, though nothing beats a personal contact, is by phone. Forget about it by email or the internet.

Find an American firm with an office in that country. Most of the big USA firms have offices in Latin America. Here is one them. If they can't help you they can likely recommend someone else trustworthy. https://www.bakermckenzie.com/en/loc.../latin-america
