Rather than posting this and/or creating multiple threads about each event, here is one thread where people from the Americas that win recognitions (awards, special mention, etc) can be posted. The recognition events doesn’t have to be in the Americas (for example, Pulitzer prizes aren’t awarded in the Americas), but the person(s) receiving the recognition needs to be from one of the countries in the Western Hemisphere. For territories/overseas departments/etc such as is the case with Guadeloupe or French Guyana, despite these places belong to a country outside the Americas, if the person receiving the recognition is from those places are to be included here too.
I will only post of people receiving recognition from the Dominican Republic including Dominican dual nationals even if they live outside the Americas.

I’ll start with this event which took place on November 16, 2022 at the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic
in Santo Domingo.
“2022 Juan Pablo Duarte Library Annual Economics Awards”
Every year the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic holds a contest for Dominicans from the country and those living abroad including descendants of Dominicans living abroad (must show a
cédula which proves they are Dominican nationals even if they are nationals of another country too.) They must be university students of economics, a professor of economics or have an economics degree from a university. A paper has to be prepared regarding any issues of economics and how it impacts the economy of the Dominican Republic. It must arrive at the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic headquarters in Santo Domingo in a sealed envelope by a certain day either in person or by mail. It must also be entirely in Spanish. It can be done by a single person or a group, in the case of the latter each gets a recognition tray but the monetary award is split evenly within the group. This deadline is usually some time in August. Winners must be present at the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic in November to receive their prizes and recognition.
This year’s winners are:
