I don't know if it's known here that the southern part of Brazil is suffering tremendous floods like never seen before there.

This is the first time I hear about it and by looking at the videos, these are massive floods.

Just saw this on tv. Wow. Colombia and Texas also seem to be struggling with floods at the moment. Hope they overcome this quickly with minimal damage.

Terrible flooding…..to her credit, Madonna—who was criticized by the Brazilian right for putting on her attendance record setting concert, planned months in advance, while this unplanned flooding was taking place—donated half of the $3.5M US she received for her performance to a fund that will aid flood victims. Crickets.

This is already effects of climate change.

In May, it is normal for temperatures to drop in the center south of Brazil, but it is still very hot, with temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius every day.

This large mass of hot air blocks the cold fronts coming from the south from advancing and dispersing across Brazil, remaining stationary above Rio Grande do Sul, which is the southernmost state in Brazil.

So we'll probably have all this flooding there and droughts in the rest of the country. We do not have a forecast of significant rainfall for this entire month in Sao Paulo and Parana, which are not far from Rio Grande do Sul.

That's right. Human action is largely responsible for these disasters. In this part of the world, deforestation was carried out without any control to make room for soybean plantations. Forests used to contain the water that now flows freely. In addition to the climate change that this produces.

Do you remember New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina back in 2005?

That's Porto Alegre, Brazil, right now.

There're not register from such a magnitude ever before. That's why it's suspected that it has to do with human actions in recent years, and it's worring for the entire world.
