In the four major leagues (MLB,NFL,NHL & NBA) I know in the midwest across several states there is a large amount of St. Louis Cardinals fans, because for years before MLB moved out west, that was the western most team. That tends to be what happens in most sports where if a state does not have a team, the residents tend to root for the closest team (alot of Twins fans in North & South Dakota for example)

NFL seems to be the most popular sport from my experience here. There is no one favorite team though.

I second Tigre's post. Most people I've met seem to follow the team of where ever they grew up. Haven't met any Cardinal fans though.

Alaska used to be a haven for 49er and Seahawk fans. I don't see that anymore. There are fans from all over (the usual suspects: Steelers, Cowboys, Broncos, Packers, Vikings, and Patriots dominate)

I agree. I have been a Rockie's fan and still rooted for them after moving here to Alaska. Much to my dismay, they couldn't take the heat to get to the playoffs!

I'm not much of a sports fan, but I have gone to a Packers game at Lambeau Field in Green Bay. It was quite the experience. A lot of history in that stadium.
