How on earth do you come back home after spending time in Hawaii??

I'm in love. This place is like Heaven on Earth!

Pictures available to my friends on Facebook.

I spent a year living in Hawaii- but after I had hiked all the trails on my islands I got island fever. The expanse of Alaska better suits me. But a dose of vitamin D right now would be nice!

Looking at the real estate values and the prices at the grocery stores helped when I was there.

Sure is a nice place to visit though.

Maybe it wouldn't be as expensive to shop if you have military privileges, there are commisaries in Hawaii aren't there?

I never saw it that way. We shopped in Hilo at the grocery store there and found the prices nearly identical to here in Anchorage except the produce at the farmer's market was killer cheap!! OMG!
And we found 10 acres with a 2 bedroom house for $250,000. More land/less house but similar prices to here in Anchorage. Yes, most homes are old and small but it depends on where you are wanting to live.
I certainly would not be caught dead living in Honolulu where prices are skyhigh!

Oh yes they do! In Oahu there are 4. I'm all over that since we have military benefits and could use the on base pharmacy for DH"s medications. But that means living near Honolulu. But North Shore was very inviting. Next visit we will dig a little deeper into the upper parts of the island.
