Well my trip is set for July 3rd till July 10th. We will tool around Anchorage a few days before setting our sights on the Kenai Peninsula for a few days. Im wondering if anyone knows of any cheap car rental places in Anchorage I could call to reserve a car for the week. I took someones advice of a car rental place in Wasilla but after calling them I found that they may not be able to have the car for us at the airport meaning we would have to take a cab from the airport to Wasilla which im assuming would be very pricey. Are their any places in Anchorage other than the large companies (i.e. Budget, Avis) that anyone knows of? For a week long rental the best im finding is upwards of 600 dollars for the week, the Wasilla company was only asking 400 but then again if I have to flip a $100 cab ride each way its not really worth it.

Yea ive emailed Denali, see how their rates are. Anyhow, comming in on July 4th weekend I expect it to be a little crazy. Any suggestions on interesting things to do/try on the Peninsula that may be a little off the beaten path of the tourists? We want to get a good experience, a good hike, or just a good sight seeing adventure while we check the towns out we come along. We have a few days to check out everything and not much schedule to stick to.

Valley Car Rental, when I rented from them last summer they told me they now have a place in Anchorage as well. Cheap rates, great service, I'll use them again this fall.

Thanks for the info. Ive sent emails to a few places. Trying to shop around for the best deal. Alot of places are saying they have a "free 150" or "free 200" miles a day. And after that its another .25c per mile. Im a little concerned about that. We plan on stayin in and around Anchorage for the first couple of days so 150 - 200 a day is probably fine, but even if we decide to go up to Wasilla and Palmer that concerns me. Not to mention we plan on driving as far south as Homer during our trip. Im not from Alaska or anything but i think 150-200 miles a day may not be enough with us trying to drive around. Anyone else have info about this, as far as being not enough miles?

Well pricelines best vehicle price is still 650+ dollars. Ive found cheaper. One company is sayin I would have 1400 free miles for the week. Any input on if anyone thinks this would be to little or just fine, for travelling around Anchorage to Wasilla, Palmer, and then down the Kenai Peninsular for a few days as far south as Homer?
