I think Anchorage, and all over Alaska the Taxi Service is not up to Professional Market. Meaning they don't have issued out price margin for taxi fair rates. Once more cruise ships come into area of Anchorage then the taxi industry will get into high gear of professionalism.

I'd think it'd be just the opposite. Tourist money drives prices up beyond what locals would ordinarily pay, in my experience.

I got tricked then - I live 3 blocks from the Hilton (looking straight at it right now) and it cost me 28 dollars from the airport to my building back in March.

Rance warned me he'd have a cab driver trying to trick him once. So who knows? It was in the middle of the night and I'm blonde haired - he might have pulled something.
So please if anyone's doing/has done that trip in the near future/lately, tell me for sure. I might have to take the cab again to the airport in two weeks (unless someone wants to drive me, hehe? No takers? It's at 4 am, what's the big deal?)

sorry can't help ya on a ride..if I was there I would certainly drive you...can you phone the cab company and ask for the price from the airport to your address?? they should be able to tell you....if the cab companies in NY can give an estimate seems Anchorage cabs should be able too!
