What about that one?
Yes, those jobs are based out of Anchorage... The Denali jobs probably are not listed right now because they are all filled for this season. Start checking in around February for jobs in the upcoming season.

I drove tour bus for Holland American for two years and was based out of Anchorage. The drivers, tour guides & CSR's from out of state would get together & rent apartments. Unfortunately they were often in less-than-desirable parts of town.

If you can find one in Anchorage that can provide decent housing, that wouldn't be a bad deal. I'm not sure if Princess/Holland America (both owned by Carnival) have housing in Anchorage for their rail employees... I'm assuming they would put you up in Fairbanks when you overnight there.

It says that government hill is used for Anchorage-based housing. How is that neighborhood?

It's pretty good... It's across Ship Creek from Downtown Achorage, right next to the Port & Elmendorf Air Force Base.

Alright. That looks like a decent neighborhood. I can't wait to apply in Eighteen or so months.

I also have some good news! My cousin has always wanted to move to southeast AK. She just now made the move to Skagway. May be a different city, but she is now the closest person to south central AK that I know. She has fulfilled her dream, now I'm encouraged that I can make mine work as well. How different is Anchorage vs Skagway?

Skagway & Anchorage are quite different... Anchorage has 300,000 people with malls, restaurants, theaters... all your traditional urban stuff. Skagway is a town of a couple of thousand people, and even less in the winter. It's accessible by road, but it's three or four hours to Whitehorse, Canada. It's accessible by air or ferry to Juneau.
Skagway is definitely beautiful and there's lots of tourism jobs in the summer.

I know this may be straying off topic, but I know for a fact that Iditarod is run ceremonially at Anchorage and is run for real at Wasilla. Has anyone here ever been a fan? I'm courious about the sport, myself.

Anyway, is there anyone that is a fan of the Iditarod? If I moved up there, would it be for me?

To watch as a spectator or participate?

Well, spectate at first. I just barely know about it, but I have followed it on the website Iditarod | Last Great Race on Earth®. Winter never comes where I live currently, so I probably would need to spectate before participation, anyway. Just for hypothetical purposes, if I was in a position to participate… would it be for me?

I guess I'd like both answered, really.
