Alaska 4x4 Network

Plenty of places to drive up here, the trails are very narrow so a jeep works really well, I take my truck out too but it's quite a bit bigger so I have to be careful where I go.

I see jeeps a lot, but mostly in the warmer months (all 3 of em.... haha)

I guess my 4x4 f350 crew cab long bed would be an issue?

At least it is an SRW... Any older Suzuki (samurai) jeeps? Those do great off roading here, light and small...

Moving to Alaska is crazy enough- I was freezing just watching Jeremiah Johnson last night- trying to catch fish barehanded with several inches of snow all around. BRRR.

Kind of a new, side question- this job is a university faculty, 9 month position. How hard might it be to find professional, summer work? Health and safety consulting specifically. Any ideas? It will be a factor in whether I take the job if offered (that and the base salary of course).

I've seen a few HSE jobs advertised in the last couple of weeks. No idea about consulting opportunities though.

My roomate does this for the oil companies up here, he says there's work & that teaching classes like "mshaw" (?, what ever that is) is a great way to make money also.
