No ASHA is a very good thing, I have decided to stay put in my apt in an inconvenient part of town because the only places in my price range in mid town were ASHA.

Its why I'm debating if I want to buy property for a house first or an aircraft hangar with water and electric and a small living area in case rent in anch gets totally out of control. I would not be surprised if the oil companies started building their own apt complexes to deal with the apt issues when we try to bring people up for assignments, the per diem is out the roof and its hard to attract people to come up here permanently, partly because of weather but partly because of the rental market (unless its like a new CEO lol)

The new base housing should have brought the rent down but I haven't seen it yet, maybe the land lords are still able to get those rates. Pretty soon the only people that will be able to live in anch are ASHA qualified (basically dirt poor) or wealthy CEO's. You cant touch anything decent in mid town for less than 1500.

At this point I would love to see the bridge put in to put an end to the madness. Rent and real estate prices would drop like a rock with all the raw land available in pt mckinzie.

ASHA essentially sets the rents in AK-the ASHA rents become the "prevailing rent" and all the landlords charge them, even if they don't accept ASHA renters. Like any other government program that started with noble intentions, it's hurting the ones who need it the most. Landlords get tired of the rental unit being treated like a treehouse by deadbeat ASHA section 8 rentards but still charge the rates because they can.
