If I had a bucket list it would be to see the northern lights, in person, not just a pic. Hopefully I can visit Alaska eventually and experience them. Not that I wouldn't enjoy great pics of them...I would like to stand underneath them.

Don't wait. Life is short.
He who travels along can leave today, He who travel's with another must wait until the other person is ready.

Come see them!

You'll want to stay for a while (to maximize your chances of getting a good display night) and you'll want to plan plenty of other fun things to do (so you enjoy your vacation and make great memories regardless of how good the displays are).

That is a nice website. Although winter prices are more in line for me I wouldn't want to go in winter. Snow in the wilderness is kind of spooky to me and travel is more dangerous. I do have relative in Chugiak.

Chena is the bomb in winter. Sitting in the hotsprings at say...30 below, good food, northern lights, the ice hotel...yeah...it's the bomb.

Different opinions of the northern lights? I've only ever heard positive things! I LOVE viewing them. I've lived in Alaska my entire 24 years of breathing but northern lights are a little rare IMO. I've only seen GREAT displays a handful of times. If you're in a rural area while they're out you can almost hear them crackle. I appreciate anybody telling me when they're out because it's stunning to witness each and every time. It never gets old.
