I would definately not let her drive by herself. I've been up the AlCan and my husband has driven it 21 times, (in all seasons). It is better to drive now then when the spring thaw hits. Hard pack snow is much better than slush. There are always parts of the road that need work no matter how modern it has gotten in the recent years. And mountains, is she used to driving through the mountains? There's a good list of things to take on a road trip further down the threads of this Alaska forum. A lot of good advice. Please think long and hard about giving your blessings on letting her go it alone. I know she is of age, but if she respects your advice I would encourage her to go with someone she knows and trusts. Like the other person said, maybe you could go with her. I used to travel with my mom a lot and I have many happy memories of those adventures. Just my opinion. Hope it helps.

Thank you all for the quick response. I think we might have a driving companion to go with her. She still feels that she can do it alone, but who didn't at 20 years of age. If her grandfather can't go I will be taking time off of work to go along.

They made it 3300 miles without too much concern. No weather issues until they were close to the Rockies at Fort Nelson to Lake Watson. Other than that clear sailing and a good time going with her older sister. Quality time and a lot of giggles.
