Depends on what you're into, really, and how long you'll be here. There are a lot of hikes and nature walks if that's your thing. If you don't mind a bit of a drive there's the Wildlife Conservation Center in Portage (about an hour's drive), the Sea Life Center in Seward (2-3 hour drive), and fishing charters/glacier cruises out of Seward, Whittier (1.5 - 2 hour drive), and Homer (4 hour drive). Denali National Park is always popular (4 hour drive)

Like the other poster said, it depends on what you like to do and if you are going to be renting a car or not. The Anchorage Museum is a really cool place, right now they have a summer shuttle that will take you to the Alaska Native Heritage Center, and to the musuem all for 30 bucks. It will teach you a lot about Alaska History. Potter Marsh Bird Sanctuary is really pretty. You could hike the flattop mountains, it has a shuttle service going to it which costs like $22. If you want somewhere to shop I would recommend going to Alaska Wild Berry Products.

When are you here, how long are you here and will you have a rental car? Those are the 3 big questions. And Anchorage is nice, but getting out into the rest of Alaska is even better.
