i fish in alaska every year and am planning to move there in aug. wondering how hard would be to find a job/apartment quickly. searching opinion/advice from locals. how do u like it? best place to startover?

If you have lots of cash, anything is possible. Housing is expensive these days. One of the reasons is the high cost of utilities, specially heating fuel and gas, although it's not as bad as around Fairbanks.

Health care is extremely expensive in Alaska, and so dental. For example, a dental crown plus root canal costs around $1,200 around Fairbanks. It's good I have insurance.

RayinAK, I had a crown and root canal on a molar last year WITH insurance in Orlando, Fl. and it cost about $1200.00

Here in upstate NY my caps are $670 a piece. A root canal runs an additional $800 to $1,000 depending on the tooth. No dental insurance and I have had to have 13 caps and 3 root canals because of breaking teeth. My dentist sent me an invitation to his son's college graduation since I paid for it
