Luckliy I'm in the middle of downtown so I have to retire to shopping and a bar.
Hope you're having a good time, short of the vehicle not going...maybe call the rental company and tell them so you don't have to pay...rental vehicle should start, mine are at least 4 years old and they start, and not plugged in, was -26 or more this morning....

So how are you liking Anchorage???Fill us in on a Brits view?

Well....I'm surprised - the weather isn't as bad as I thought it would be. Oh yes, it's cold but a dry cold....I used to live in Scotland and that can feel cold (even at 35F) with the wind and rain. The sunrise and sunsets are amazing....the scenery is breathtaking - I can't wait until summer. I went around the Mall today and once inside I could have been anywhere in the US.....and I was chuffed to see there's an Abercombie Fitch..yeah . Been to a few bars...hmmm...Humpy's...seemed fun, good service, friendly bar...then tonight I had a bite at the Rummer (or something like that)...it seems like a great bar but it was kind of quiet..good food. Then I dipped into The Shed and Darwins.....interesting . I think that Alaska will be a great place to live, I'm really looking forward to it....it has all the benefits of the Southern 48 but more - plus, when I need a break you can fly to Hawaii in under 6 hours . A few things are different and I'm sure I'll be biting my lip a few times but all in all I think Anchorage is a fun place - I'm curious to see how crazy it'll get tomorrow - of course I'll start my celebrations at 3pm (Midnight in London) and continue from there .

Well nice to hear you're having a good time. Nice to have an extra soldier around to stop the Russian invasion too. You should visit the Interior sometime too, get a taste of real winter weather. Now keep out of trouble on New Year's.
