I don't know what you saw, nor do I live in Anchorage...gangs are all over the US, small and big towns, and the focus for media, I am not interested in, and I am sure it was exagerated as Anchorage is small compaared to other cities...Where I live...no signs of gangs in my neighborhood...., but to trade willingly for somewhere else where they were/are...not gonna happen...

I was born in Anchorage and I'm Samoan - I'm now 38 years old. Those two idiots that we're all commenting about are jack asses. And there are idiots like that in all races - not just Samoans. I'll tell you one thing - I went to school with some of the craziest white kids and they did some crazy stuffs. Some of those white idiots are like my blood brothers. We went to Denali Elementary, Romig Jr. High, West High School - we played ball together and then went on to UAA for four years. Anyway, my point is - I don't think there's anything wrong with alot of Samoans here in Anchorage. But at the same time, some of those teenagers been acting very stupid.

Welcome to CD WestHigh! I believe you would be our first Samoan and thank you for stepping in. I believe your 100% correct in your comment. I went to highschool in Kenai and had a couple Samoan friends through my school years. They were as fine folks as anybody I've ever met and I still am good friends with one to this day. I also worked on the slope with a couple of guys that were nothing short of great guys and outstanding co-workers.

Their are a lot of so called native gangsters in Los Anchorage.
The show gangland didn't show all the gangs.
Their are gangs of every race here.
Blacks, latinos, asians, etc
It is not illegal to be a gangster, and you should only worry about the bad ones if you hang out around them.
You are more likely to die in a car crash death and a bunch of other things here in Los Anchorage.

You know what? A lot the Natives that you see living on the streets or in marginal housing in "Los Anchorage" were forced out of their villages because of high fuel costs as well as other high costs of living. Eggs were $22 a carton up on the Yukon Delta a couple of years ago.

I get so tired of the Native bashing on this board. There are communities all over Alaska where Natives are reclaiming their heritage. What you see on the streets of Anchorage is hardly reflective of the entire state.

Amen, Met! Some of the bashers should visit the North Slope and see how well their talk goes over there.

LOVE Samoans! Talofa! I used to go to a Samoan church every now and then. Great folks! Great fellowship and food! And the Samoan men are so good looking!
