chs - I just moved up here from Colorado. I had my pickup shipped from Denver. It took 2 weeks to get it here, so I did need to get a rental car. I would suggest if you do a rental car, do not use rental car places on the airport. It is a little more expensive. I chose to use a rental service in town. It also makes a difference for some rental places in town the amount of time you rent them. The place I rented from said it would be cheaper to rent it for 1 month versus weekly. I still have the rental car right now because I will be sending my pickup to the shop to get studded tires on it and a few other things to make it ready for winter here.

Interesting stuff on the snow plows warptman! Hey, I may be out in your neck of the woods in January! I have to meet some of public health nurses there, especially the one that did some of the villages like Aniak and a few others in that region. I may have to ask you some questions and see what you can tell me about those areas. I will be going to Dillinham next month with my supervisor to do some things there. My adventure begins!!!

Great post Hun (Warpt)! This should be sticky!

BTW, they use tons of Calcium Chloride on the Dalton. However, because it's also somewhat hygroscopic, they use it mainly in the summer to help with dust control.
