I was just curious what you miss most about the lower 48? Or, if you're a native, is there anything you wish you had easier access to?

I don't live in Alaska anymore and likely won't ever do so again. I love the old place, but life is different now. This is what I missed when I lived in Alaska full-time:

- The symphony.
- Agriculture. The way mint fields smell in the morning, cornfields, vineyards.
- The feeling of the sun on my face. Yeah, I know the sun shines in Alaska, but I'm talking about the way it feels when the sun actually warms your skin. That's Heaven, and it happens maybe once every five years on the panhandle.
- Just going into the city and wandering among art galleries and specialty boutiques.
- Wine. The available pinot noir in Alaska was scary.
- Spring, summer, and fall.
- Antiques.

Alaska was good to me and I'll always cherish the years that I spent there, but Oregon was my first home, and it will be my last.

Wine? Uh oh, hold the phone, that might be a deal breaker...... Tell me more about the wine.

I understand what you mean about the sun. Coming from the high desert, I'm curious how I'll do without 300 days of sun. Most days I'm fairly sick of the sun, but you don't know what you got till it's gone, right?

I've never been to a Famous Dave's, LOL

I just noticed that you're in Anchorage; my comments were specific to an island on the panhandle. You should be able to find some drinkable wine in Anchorage.

You can get all of the whine you want - just read this forum from time to time...

OH wait... You meant wine... Yes, Met is correct. Plenty of drinkable spirits here. I don't partake, but I have seen enough people here that do. And the stuff is in the stores.

Sometimes I crave Del Taco. I also miss Fry's electronics, I am a big computer guy. Other that that nothing. I definitely do not miss the droves of people, the heat and the traffic.

I've never lived in a place that had much sun. I'm thinking about getting a house on the Baja to use for four or five months every year.
